The Stewardship Ministry Team presents a holistic approach to stewardship. What does that mean? In short, stewardship is a way of life for the believer. It encompasses everything we do. The Bible tells us that believers are bondservants to Christ and that everything we hold, including ourselves, belongs to God. That makes us stewards of all God has created.
“Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.” I Corinthians 4:1-2. To fully understand this statement one needs to look at what a steward is and what it means to be found faithful.
A steward as defined by the dictionary is a person who manages another’s property, finances, or other affairs. So if we are to be stewards, what we have does not belong to us; it belongs to someone else, God blesses us with everything we have. It is a high privilege to be stewards of God. He has trusted us with the stewardship of His creation and His gospel.
Faithful, what is faithful? Trustworthy, dependable, reliable, dedicated, committed, devoted, loyal, truthful, authentic are descriptive of faithful. This calls us to an unwavering devotion to God. To be devoted to someone requires a relationship. A faithful stewardship requires a close relationship with Christ and management of all he has blessed us with. This is your abilities, your desires or interests, your time, and management of your family, the presence of your house in the neighborhood, your witness at work and at play, and your attitude, absolutely everything. Faithful stewardship is a lifestyle choice. The choice you make is manifested in how you prioritize your time, money, and other possessions. |
